Rosepark Organic farm is a traditional Pembrokeshire grassland enterprise of 50 acres. It is a fine gently sloping site in south Pembrokeshire, looking out to Caldey Island off the coast near the beautiful beach at Amroth.
The main agricultural enterprise is the rearing of fat lambs from 100 ewes, which are mostly Lleyns because they have such good natural mothering ability. The sheep currently lamb over an extended period through the early stages of the year. Darran is often out in the lambing shed through most of the night when it’s time to be busy! It’s a tradition of fine stockmanship that respects the needs of the animals in a time-honoured manner. The holding is registered through the Soil Association as a fully organic unit and this accolade has been held since 1999.
The lambs are naturally reared in traditional Pembrokeshire style on good lush spring grass and mother’s milk, and many customers say it is the sweetest, tastiest lamb they have ever tried. The meat is processed in Rosepark’s own butchers shop by specialist butchers so it is reassuring to know that when you buy from Rosepark Organic Farm, you are getting the most natural and honest food it is possible to buy. This eliminates all of the worries associated with inhumane and intensive factory farms and products that have been driven hundreds of miles all over the country or for that matter halfway around the world! Produce from Rosepark Organic Farm helps to sustain the countryside we all love and is the environmentally friendly choice.
Other enterprises vary from time-to-time and have included suckler beef cattle and fine pigs too. There are plans to offer poultry in the future, all raised to the same high standards of animal welfare and concern for the environmental balance, that is at the heart of what Rosepark Organic Farm stands for. All produce is available to order on this website and also through the onsite farm shop for those living locally or able to visit. It’s always a pleasure to meet you, so drop in when passing even if you happen to be staying elsewhere.
Rosepark Organic Farm is part of the Tir Gofal scheme which is an agri-environment scheme available for some farms throughout Wales. The Tir Gofal scheme rewards farmers for caring for the environmental, historical and cultural features on their land.
Tir Gofal builds in the experience of previous schemes, such as Environmentally Sensitive Areas (ESAs) and Tir Cymen. It is designed to support the farming community in protecting the rich heritage of rural Wales and reflects the Welsh Assembly Government’s priorities for sustainable farming, coupled with greater opportunities for public enjoyment of the countryside.
